Pactify v1.1.0: Finally, a Real "Second Brain Portal"

A Problem That's Been Bugging Me

As someone who heavily relies on both AI and Notion daily, I found myself stuck in a weird cycle:

Morning: ChatGPT for research outlines. Afternoon: Claude for data analysis. Evening: Gemini for organizing thoughts. Every conversation is valuable, and I want to save them all to Notion. But when I need to review something, here's what happens:

Which platform did I use for that conversation? What was the title? Where is it?

What frustrates me even more is that my carefully organized Notion knowledge base is completely disconnected from my AI conversations. Every time I need context, I have to open Notion, copy-paste text, switch back to the AI platform, and continue. This broken workflow drives me crazy.

Sidepanel: An Experimental Answer

The v1.1.0 update is my answer to this problem — we've transformed the Popup into a Chrome Sidepanel.

This isn't just an interface change. When the Sidepanel appears side-by-side with your AI conversation, something subtle happens:

You suddenly have a "workspace."

ChatGPT conversation on the left, your entire conversation history, Notion knowledge base, and prompt library on the right. No more window switching. No more losing context. The workflow becomes seamless.

Global Search: Solving "I Can't Find That Conversation"

Let me talk specifically about Global Search, because it's become my most-used feature.

We've all been there: you had a brilliant insight in some AI conversation, but when you want to revisit it, you can't find it.

  • Keyword search? Too many conversations use the same high-frequency terms
  • Check titles? I often forget to name conversations, or titles are too long to display in the sidebar
  • Scroll through timeline? ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini — you have to check each platform separately

Global Search is designed to solve this:

  • Cross-platform search: Search all AI conversations at once, across ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini
  • Multi-dimensional filters: Combine time (today/this week/last month), platform, and tags
  • Favorites: Star your most-used conversations for instant access
  • Content search: Search not just titles, but the full conversation content

Most importantly — you can quickly find historical context without interrupting your current conversation, copy it over, and keep going.

This feature has completely replaced my use of each AI platform's native sidebar.

Notion → AI: The Experimental Future

Another feature I'm particularly excited about is currently in Experimental status: connecting your Notion knowledge base to AI conversations.

The current version lets you connect up to 20 Notion pages to Pactify. This means:

  • In any AI conversation scenario, open the Sidepanel, and your knowledge base is right there
  • Need project background? Copy directly from Notion pages
  • Need historical decision records? Inject them into conversations with one click
  • Need your personal writing style guide? Always available

I'm wondering: what happens when we achieve "seamless access" to your entire knowledge base?

Imagine these scenarios:

  1. Switching AI platforms with conversation context automatically following you
  2. Opening a Notion page and integrating AI conversation insights with one click
  3. Drafting emails in Gmail with AI generating content based on your Notion knowledge base
  4. Posting on LinkedIn with AI-generated drafts combined with your writing style library

Pactify Sidepanel doesn't just connect Notion and AI — it can connect much more.

Why a Waitlist This Time?

People ask me: why not just open it up, why have a Waitlist?

The direct reason: Notion API has usage quota limits. I need to ensure a stable, reliable experience for paying users (Starter members).

But the deeper reason is that I'm running an experiment—

How do we make AI conversations truly valuable? How do we connect them with your existing "Second Brain" to unlock value in more scenarios?

This experiment requires careful refinement and exploration with users who truly care about this problem. User count isn't the focus at this stage — value is.

So I designed this approach:

  • Free users: Apply for the Waitlist, queue for Beta access
  • Starter members: Get instant Beta access, no waiting

This model will stay the same going forward. I want to serve paying users well, not chase a massive free user base.

Some Technical Reflections

Migrating from Popup to Sidepanel meant rewriting the entire architecture:

  • Chrome SidePanel API (Manifest V3)
  • Complete React 18 + TypeScript refactor
  • 5 unified views: Conversations, Prompts, Resources, Account, Export
  • Infinite scroll, local caching, optimistic updates...

But these technical details aren't the point. The point is continuity of experience — when you don't need to constantly switch windows, your thinking flow isn't interrupted.

An Experiment About "AI Conversation Value"

Many users ask me: How do I make AI conversations produce long-term value, instead of being disposable?

My answer: Connect them to your workflow, don't let them exist in isolation.

  • AI conversations → Notion knowledge base (auto-save)
  • Notion knowledge base → AI conversations (always accessible)
  • Sidepanel → Any work scenario (seamless switching)

Pactify Sidepanel is just the beginning of this experiment. I believe the bridge between "AI conversations" and "Second Brain" can unlock value in many more scenarios.

Looking forward to having you join and explore this answer together.
