How do I get the full history of a long AI chat?

Steps
- Connect Notion or CapacitiesThe full-history toggle stays hidden until a cloud destination is ready (not for local-only Saved to this device).
- Open a long conversationUse ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, or copilot.microsoft.com.
- Flip the toggle on SyncOn the Sync button, enable the slider. Tip names the platform in education copy; loading may show Loading full {Platform} history...
- Sync or wait for Auto-SyncFlip off cancels loading. On Gemini / Perplexity / Copilot, sidebar chat switches reset Sync/scroll UI—re-enable if needed.
Control name and placement
A toggle inside the Sync button (top-right header; order stays Badge → Sync → Export). No separate short label beside the slider. Accessibility name: Load full history and sync / while scrolling Cancel loading history.

When the toggle is missing
The full-history switch is hidden when the cloud Sync destination is not ready (local-only / Connect path). Local indexing can still run without it—see Local search. Claude and Grok never show this control; scroll the page manually before Sync if you need older messages.
If loading older messages fails

Frequently asked questions
Why don’t I see a full-history toggle?
Needs both a cloud destination and a detected need to scroll. Local-only indexing does not show it. Claude and Grok never show this control.
Do I need a Load full history text button?
No—the visible control is a toggle on Sync. Load full history and sync is the accessibility label.
Why did only part of my ChatGPT history sync?
The AI site may only have recent messages loaded. Flip the Sync full-history toggle (where available) before Sync so older messages load first.
